Volunteers in L'Arche share their home, their daily life with people with learning disabilities. They commit to a social humanitarian project whilst benefiting from being a volunteer with legally recognized status in France. This experience offers personal development, training, and lifelong learning. Former volunteers can testify to it.

The history of l'Arche began in a little house in a french village in 1964. Jean Vanier, mentored by Father Thomas Philippe, set up a home with Raphael Simi and Philippe Seux. Forty years later L'Arche is an international organisation, active now in five continents. L'Arche is integrated into vastly differing cultures whilst retaining its own very particular one, identity and values.. L'Arche in Pariswas founded in 1973.
In 1973 four students mentored by Jean Vanier decided to start up a home in Paris with three people with learning disabilities. In a flat in Paris' 15th District, they led a slightly bohemian, lively and very intense existence.[ More information ]
